A Free Tool To Aid Your eBay Arbitrage Activities
September 22nd, 2005What is eBay arbitrage exactly? It’s when you buy something dirt cheap on eBay, then turn around and immediately resell it on eBay for a higher price.
You can do this when you find sellers who don’t quite know the value of what they’re selling. Or when you find a seller who has misspelled the name of the item they’re selling.
Like this person selling Steve Madden sandals.
She spelled ‘diamond’ like ‘dimond.’ I wouldn’t quite consider this a good arbitrage opportunity, as the sandals are used. But if you wanted a pair of Steve Madden’s - a popular and pricey shoe designer - this would be an ideal way to get a pair dirt cheap.
Also, you’ll find some sellers intentionally misspell key terms in their auction to get people who are looking for misspellings. For example, this seller knows how to spell ‘diamond.’ But you’ll see them periodically running auctions with ‘dimond’ in the auction title, and ‘diamond’ in the description. NOT an arbitrage opportunity here.
So as you can see you can use misspellings to take advantage of sellers who haven’t spell checked their auctions. And you can purposely use misspellings to attract buyers who are looking for these errors.
The eBay Auction Speller is a free web-based tool that’ll help you find auctions with misspelled keywords. You simply enter the term you’re term, and it’ll return a list of auctions using the misspellings.
With the holiday season drawing nearer, I think this is a great strategy to try.
